BMBF Directive on the Funding of Open Access

02.06.2017

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has announced a new directive on the funding of Open Access.

Proposals can be submitted for projects in the thematic fields “practical handling of freely accessible publications” and “aspects of the spread of Open Access” and for thematically unspecified projects that are clearly linked to the aim of establishing Open Access as a standard scientific publishing model.

As a general rule, the project duration should not exceed 24 months; up to 300,000 euros will be made available for each project or collaborative project. The earliest project starting date would be 1 January 2018.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 31 July 2017.
