Austrian Science Fund Offers Start-Up Funding for OA Journals in the Social Sciences and Humanities

Publications in international journals are one of the most important "currencies" in the sciences. Aspects such as international visibility, quality assurance and electronic publishing have gained in importance in recent years. The combination of electronic publishing and Open Access, in particular, allows for a variety of innovative models. However, especially in the humanities and the social sciences this potential has not yet been exploited.

Therefore the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), in coordination with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF), has launched a call for expressions of interest for three-year start-up funding to establish innovative OA journals in the social sciences and humanities.

The expression of interest form (follow links below) must be submitted to the FWF by 1 April 2013 at the latest.

If demand exists, the FWF will hold an information workshop on 3 December 2012 from 13:30 – 16:00 hrs at Haus der Forschung 1, 1090 Vienna. Those who wish to avail of this offer are requested to contact Eva Scherag by 19 November 2012 at the latest to make a definite registration (01-5056740-8309, eva.scherag(at)fwf.ac.at).

For individual advice and further information regarding the funding programme, please contact Dr. Falk Reckling (01-5056740-8301, falk.reckling(at)fwf.ac.at)
