US universities commit themselves to establishing a funding basis for OA publications
A number of US universities have committed themselves to the establishment of durable mechanisms for underwriting publication fees charged by Open Access journals. The initiative aims to provide financial support to authors who make their research results openly accessible, and to underline the importance of Open Access to scholarly literature. To date, the Compact for Open Access Publishing Equity has been signed by five universities, including Harvard. The signatories call on other institutions to join them in their commitment to provide support for OA publishing.
