This year's international Open Access Week is taking place from 22-28 October 2012. The aim of the event is to address the topic of Open Access on the local level at many different venues throughout the world in order to promote free access to knowledge and information generated by publicly funded research and to provide on-the-spot information about OA. International Open Access Week is organised by SPARC (Scholarly Publishing & Academic Resources Coalition), PLoS (Public Library of Science), and a number of other supporters.
This year's activities are being compiled on the international openaccessweek.org website.
Open Access Week is an annual follow-up event to the first international Open Access Day, which took place on 14 October 2008.
Get involved in international Open Access Week by hosting events at your organisation and take advantage of this action week to inform scholars and scientists about Open Access on the local level.
