International Open Access Week
International Open Access Week will take place from 18 to 24 October 2010. The aim is to publicise Open Access (OA) at many different locations worldwide during that week in order to broaden awareness of OA and to promote free access to the knowledge and information generated by publicly-funded research. The organisers of the action week are
SPARC (Scholarly Publishing & Academic Resources Coalition), PLoS (Public Library of Science), Students for FreeCulture, OASIS (Open Access Scholarly Information Sourcebook), the Open Access Directory (OAD) and eIFL.net (Electronic Information for Libraries).
Open Access Week is a follow-up to international Open Access Day which took place on 14 October 2008.
Take the opportunity to participate in international Open Access Week by organising activities at your institution, and avail of the action week to broaden awareness of OA among your institution's scholars and scientists! Participants 2010, activities 2010 and registration.

Open Access Week - Open Access Days - What's the difference?
While Open Access Days, which will be held on 4 and 5 October at the State and University Library of Goettingen, is an annual conference, international Open Access Week, which takes place two weeks later, offers you the opportunity to organise local events in order to promote Open Access in your own institution and to raise members' awareness of the OA idea.
