Activities planned by the individual institutions
This section provides an overview of the activities and events planned by the individual universities and non-university research institutes, libraries etc within the framework of international Open Access Week. To encourage cooperative exchanges, we have grouped the institutions according to federal state (Bundesland).
This list is intended to be a source of ideas for the many institutions that plan to participate in international Open Access Week but have not yet decided on a programme. It will be updated continually to include new activities and participating institutions.

For informational purposes and as a source of ideas for Open Access Week 2010, we have compiled documentation (slides, photos, videos) of the national and international activities which took place within the framework of Open Access Week 2009.
The Alliance of German Science Organisations' Open Access Working Group hosted a podium discussion to mark the opening of international Open Access Week:

- Measures to publicise the new publishing venture Fraunhofer Verlag and its hybrid publishing model that combines print and Open Access versions of Fraunhofer scientists' publications.
In addition, a range of activities are planned at over 50 Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft institutes nationwide. These include:
- Introductory talks on the subject of "Scholarly publishing and Open Access at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft"
- Information booths in the institute libraries with material and literature on Open Access
- Promotion entitled "Everything is so green! When self-archiving flourishes": Information management specialists help Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft authors to self-archive their already-published works in the Fraunhofer-ePrints repository

- Presentation on making older publications accessible online via OPUS and library catalogues (Section 137l of German Copyright Act (UrhG) – granting of rights in respect of unknown types of use) taking University of Stuttgart scholars and scientists as an example

Among other things, kiz Ulm will display posters at various locations (e.g. the Dissertation Department) to draw attention to Open Access Week. The posters will also feature a reference to the information booth at library headquarters. In addition, bookmarks will be distributed at the library service points. A circular letter enclosing a bookmark has been sent to the university's scholars and scientists to draw their attention to Open Access Week.
Moreover, kiz has put together an informative web page, which is in a prominent position on its website, and which will be available for a considerable time under the rubric News Articles.
