Panel Discussion: Open Science - Opportunities and Challenges of Digital Science

A panel discussion will take place at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on 23 October 2012 within the framework of Open Access Week 2012, an international action week for the promotion of Open Access that is supported by scientific institutions worldwide. A panel of experts from the fields of science, publishing, and research funding will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the digitisation of research teaching.
The panel discussion will focus on the growing demand for, and the opportunities and challenges of, Open Science. Topics will include Open Access, Web 2.0 in the sciences, and permanent access to research data.
The discussion will be take place in the auditorium of the university's Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum. It will begin at 18:00 hrs and will be conducted in German. Admission will be free of charge.
The panel discussion is being organised jointly by the Helmholtz Assocation's Open Access Coordination Office, the Computer and Media Service, the University Library and the School of Library and Information Science of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the Center for Digital Systems of the Freie Universität Berlin.
