Documentation of DFG Workshop on Open Access to Scientific Monographs

A workshop on Open Access to scholarly and scientific monographs took place in Göttingen on 9 May 2012 under the auspices of the German Research Foundation (DFG). The workshop was prompted by the fact that, in comparison to scholarly journals, the provision of OA to scientific monographs is still unsatisfactory. Fifty representatives from  the science, publishing, library, and research-funding sectors discussed the content-related, formal, infrastructural, and organisational demands on the scientific OA monograph of the future. A further aim of the German Research Foundation (DFG), as the initiator of the workshop, was to identify specific requirements that funding instruments for OA monographs must fulfil. The results of the workshop will be incorporated into the DFG's funding policy and will therefore contribute to enhancing the feasibility of providing OA to scientific monographs. Comprehensive documentation of the workshop can be found via the link below. Stefan Buddenbohm (SUB Göttingen) and Dr. Angela Holzer (DFG) are responsible for the documentation. They are also available to answer questions. Workshop proceedings (available in German only)
