Data protection
Data protection is of particular relevance when it comes to open access to research data or data sharing. In Germany, data protection is governed by the Federal Data Protection Act. For institutes of higher education, the pertinent local law is the data protection law of the federal state in which the institute is located. In some disciplinary areas, such as medicine or psychology, data protection is of particular importance. Provisions should therefore be made to enable anonymised raw data to be made openly accessible without infringing the interests of patients.
