New Open Access deal for Austrian researchers

Under a recently signed framework agreement between the open access publisher Frontiers, the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), and the University of Vienna, Austrian researchers can publish their articles free of charge in Frontiers' open access journals.

As a result of this first-of-its-kind national Open Access framework agreement, which covers article processing charges (APCs) and also provides for a national discount, the publication process will be organised in a more transparent way, the invoicing process will be simplified, and comprehensive reporting on OA expenditures and research outputs at institutional and national level will be established. The framework agreement applies to all research institutions and state funders in Austria.

Researchers who submit a manuscript within this framework can continue to avail of the complete range of Open Access tools on the Frontiers platform, for example collaborative peer review and impact metric instruments. Submitted manuscripts will undergo the usual editing process.
