Project on OA in Germany and South Africa gets underway

A project entitled Open Access to the communication system of science – Changing patterns of participation. A cross-national comparison between Germany and South Africa is currently getting underway at the University of Bielefeld's Institute for Science and Technology Studies (IWT). Led by Dr. Niels C. Taubert, a sociologist of science and media, the project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Taking the fields of astrophysics and mathematics as an example, the project will focus on the impacts of Open Access-induced media transformation on the scientific communication system in the two countries.
