Events for Open Access Week 2020: "The Doctor is in" and "Open Access Talks

The open-access.network project participates in worldwide conferences with helpdesk consultation hours and online seminars on Open Access

The international online conference Open Access Week 2020 will take place from 19 to 25 October. This year's motto is Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion. The open-access.network project team is pleased to contribute to the programme with the following offerings:

  • Tuesday, 20 October 2020, 10:00 MEST:
    Dr. Stefan Schmeja, an Open Access expert from the German National Library of Science and Technology (Technische Informationsbibliotek - TIB), will take a critical look at the colour code in his lecture The Open Access Rainbow - What Colours Does It Have and Do We Really Need? Among other things, he addresses the question of what lies behind terms such as gold, green or diamond. All interested parties are invited to attend.   • Wednesday, 21 October 2020, 14:00 MEST:
    Dirk Pieper, Deputy Director of Bielefeld University Library, talks about Cost Monitoring of Open Access Publications: Opportunities and Challenges for Libraries. Among other things, he will present the data sources available for this purpose. Librarians and anyone interested in the topic of cost monitoring are particularly invited to attend.   • Thursday, 22 October 2020, 14:00 MEST:
    Dr. Ulrike Kändler from the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) will give all interested parties the opportunity to ask questions about financing Open Access publications during the event Financing Open Access - Your Questions & Problems. The focus will be on the questions you have brought with you. All interested parties are invited to send us any questions and suggestions they would like to discuss at the seminar via e-mail by Tuesday, 20 October.

All lectures will be held in German. The rooms will be opened shortly before the start of the respective event. Registration for the lectures is not necessary.
