Leibniz Association offers first open access publishing fund for books

The Leibniz Association has become the first non-university research organisation in Germany to support the open access publication of scientific books with a publishing fund. Funded books will thus be electronically available free of charge to researchers and the public at large at the time of publication (the gold road to open access).
For a period of two years from the beginning of 2019, the open access publication of scientific monographs, edited volumes, and contributions to edited volumes will be financially supported. With the launch of the new fund, the Leibniz Association has closed a funding gap.
The publishing fund is addressed to all 95 Leibniz institutes and research museums. Funding will be provided within the framework of a collaborative pilot project on the part of seven Leibniz institutions under the lead of the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim.
